for $240. It can be viewed at many libraries around Australia.
Cost & Delivery Information
Through Macbeths, retrieval and copies of probate files cost
$A50 per file including postage to an Australian address. This
includes 20 photocopies. Additional photocopies will be supplied at
cost. Copies will take about 4 to 6 weeks depending on the work load
of the Public Record Office copy room.
Copies over 20 are charged at 55 cents per page. Most files are 20
pages or less although occasionally we retrieve a file of over 100
pages. So if the file you order is 40 pages you will be charged $61.
Do we have your authorisation to copy all of the file? Or only pages up
to the $50 limit?
Please be aware an inquest file may contain information which many will
find distressing. Therefore photos are NOT copied unless a client
specifically asks us to copy them.
When we receive your approval we will process your order on Wednesdays
of each week. The delay you will experience before your copies arrive
will be about two months.

What we need from you is:
- the name of the deceased
- the year of death
- the reference number
- whether M or F (up to 1888)
- your name, address, credit card details or cheque
Do we have your authorisation to copy all of the file or only pages up
to the $50 limit?
Do we have your authorisation to copy photos if they exist? Please
realise the photos often contain images which can be distressing.
